Playwright

I’m new to this aspect of theatre-making, and had the good fortune to see my first co-written script, Gaslight (with writing partner Patty Jamieson) premiered at the Shaw Festival in 2022.

It’s exciting, though sometimes intimidating, to be exploring theatre from this angle.  My interests as a playwright remain the same as they are when I’m the director, the dramaturg, the producer or the actor — to tell a story in real time that connects people, both to each other and to the storytellers.  And after a bruising few years for theatre everywhere, I still believe in the power of that storytelling to change the way we see the world.

Other writing projects in the pipeline include The Three Musketeers, a comedy/adventure for women and men co-written with Patty Jamieson, and The Suspect, an adaptation of the award-winning mystery novel by L.R. Wright with cast of four.
